I was thinking a replica of my Specialized P3, in steel, with a few tweaks (V-brake tabs, shorter stays), to build up with some spare bits. The price is so damn good...is it REALLY $120USD + shipping, or am I misreading?

Hey man, I have a few questions for you about your Marino...how long did it take, from the first email you sent them to you bolting parts on? How was their customer service? And how is the frame (welds and shit). I am seriously considering getting a custom frame from them myself.

well thanks a lot for your opinion, get back to me once you've built up your marino, i'm still curious about it!

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 21, 2009 at 20:04
alright. one last question.

if you had to pick between either a dobermann pinscher or black market riot, which one would you pick? one's got a positive bb (as discussed), and one's got a lower bb. soooooo....

adtrials- wrote
Jan 18, 2009 at 3:21
you are a good rider

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 16, 2009 at 11:58
and trials bikes normally have headtube and bb cutouts? i ride trails almost weekly during the summer and i don't know if i want that...

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 16, 2009 at 11:57
i already have some parts picked out....
1) i'm set on the 95-140mm travel pike
2) rhyno lite xl welded rims are cheap and somewhat trials-like... all around durable rims
3) bmx cranks are relatively cheap and support a nice 25-12 ratio or 28-13
4) going for a 27" wide low/mid rise bar, keeping my thomson stem
5) keeping my pivotal seat and post combo
6) yes, plastic pedals to save my shins
7) 2.3" specialized rhythm lite tires

and that's about it.

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 16, 2009 at 11:12
and i have no idea what a hollow headset is, and brake mount spacing (v-brakes) too. ahhhhhh

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 16, 2009 at 11:02
and are they going to be light? what's the catch/downsides

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 16, 2009 at 11:02
um... are they light? sounds too good to be true @ 120 USD... can you go on more about it? because if it's really that good then i'd make a frame that's basically a black market with a higher bb.

creamsoda89 wrote
Jan 15, 2009 at 19:56
kay. then for street, what would you go for if you had to pick a relatively mainstream street frame (not trials or street-trials) to do everything on?

i'm looking at either the riot or pinscher, ideally a mob though. my sub was too long for me.

creamsoda89 wrote
Oct 2, 2008 at 21:42
yeah, i went through the website and it says the frames are manufactured by dobermann fabrication... how odd to have a company have their own design and have another company make it... i guess that really jacks the price up eh

ya, not much going on. I went to see Ryan Leech in Lower Sackville (near Halifax, at a Norco dealer) and most people there did not ride trials, I think there were 2 guys or something like that. but if you do come down sometime, make sure you drop buy peggy's cove, Ryan Leech even said it was one of the best natural spots he'd ever ridden.
